Brazos County has 77 voting precincts, and every one of them needs a leader.
Precinct chairs are the backbone of the Brazos County Democratic Party. As a precinct chair, you serve as the local face of the party in your neighborhood, connecting voters to candidates and turning community energy into real electoral results. Active precinct chairs make a measurable difference in turnout, engagement, and Democratic wins up and down the ballot.
What does a precinct chair do?
The role is as hands-on as you want to make it. As the go-to person for your precinct, you'll:
Know and grow your precinct: Get to know the voters in your area, encouraging them to vote in elections and get involved locally. The stronger your local network, the bigger the impact.
Be the bridge: Attend BCDP County Executive Committee (CEC) meetings once per month and serve as the link between voters, candidates, and party leadership. You're how information flows in both directions.
Stay informed: Familiarize yourself with the Texas Democratic Party Rules and the Texas Election Code. Knowing the rules means you can lead with confidence.
Some precinct chairs also help with local elections by recruiting election judges and clerks and placing signage at polling locations.
Why does it matter?
Strong precincts build strong campaigns and strong communities. When every precinct has an engaged chair, the whole party is stronger. Precinct chairs are elected in the Democratic Primary, but vacancies can be filled throughout the term.
